Day 1,504: Still Sober

I’ve been away from writing here as I took time to deliberately refocus on the full spectrum of my health; mind, body, and soul. Since I last wrote in 2020, the following has blossomed within my life:

  • I started and am currently three years into my keto, low-carb, low-sugar, intermittent fasting lifestyle. It’s not a diet, it’s how I will be living for the time being. The result has seen me lose a little over 35kg with my eye on the goal of 45kg.
  • I completed my first, and then four more, 5ks in the last year. Going from cranky couch potato to complaining runner wasn’t easy— but I did it, and I’m so proud of myself! I am slated for my first ever 8k in a few months.
  • I have broken ties with, blocked, distanced myself, and removed those people in my life who energetically drained, pained, or dismissed me. I feel like a whole new person! There were many tears, but I am finally free from the toxicity of those who aren’t seeking the same in life as I am. I have newfound time to foster more loving and intentional connections.
  • I joined a group for adult children raised by narcissists so that I can focus on my own healing as well as support others affected by the same. It has been enriching to have a space just for those challenges and feelings. Knowing I am not alone in this way gives me immense comfort.
